Cambodia and China to Sign Agreement on MLC Special Fund Cooperation Projects for 2024

Phnom Penh, September 4, 2024 — Cambodia and China are set to sign an agreement for the Cooperation Projects of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Special Fund for 2024. The signing ceremony will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) on September 5.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of MFAIC, Sok Chenda Sophea, and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, Wang Wenbin, will represent their respective governments in signing the agreement.

According to the MFAIC, Cambodia will receive approximately USD 2 million under the Special Fund to support eight projects in various sectors, including tourism, mine action, agriculture, rural development, promotion of MLC awareness, regional economic enhancement, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), capacity building, and flood risk management.

The MLC Special Fund has financed around 90 projects in Cambodia over the past seven years, underscoring the commitment of Cambodia and China to fostering a Community with a Shared Future focused on peace, prosperity, and sustainable development for all Mekong-Lancang countries.
